Project Title
“Decentralized Rainwater Harvesting and Greywater Treatment Using Electrocoagulation-Ceramic Membrane Systems in the Indian Himalayan Region”
The research project focuses on developing and evaluating decentralized technologies for rainwater harvesting and greywater treatment, with particular emphasis on electrocoagulation and ceramic membrane systems.
Qualifications & Candidate Profile
Candidates should possess an M.Tech. / Master's degree in relevant disciplines such as:
Chemical Engineering
Chemical Technology
Ceramic Engineering
Production Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Other suitable Engineering disciplines
Chemistry
Applied Chemistry
Engineering Science
Chemical Science
Candidates with GATE/NET qualification are desirable.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge or experience in:
Ceramic membrane formation/formulation
Porous materials
Mass transfer through porous materials
Membrane preparation
Membrane processes
Water treatment
Separation technology
Key Responsibilities & Research Scope
The selected JRF will be involved in:
Preparation of concrete formulations
Membrane preparation
Setting up required experimental systems
Fixing membranes appropriately to concrete structures
Examining water permeability
Studying surface interactions between membrane and concrete surfaces
Real-world application of the developed technology
Field testing at industrial sites, if required
Research work and experimental data analysis
Report preparation
Research publications
Patent-related activities, where applicable
The selected candidate will also be encouraged to join the Institute's Ph.D. programme through this project, subject to applicable IIT Roorkee rules.
Fellowship & Remuneration
Junior Research Fellow
INR 37,000 per month for the first 2 years.
After successful completion of the two-year tenure as JRF, the candidate may be promoted to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the remaining six months.
Senior Research Fellow
INR 42,000 per month for up to 6 months, subject to successful progression from JRF.
Duration
Total Project Position Duration: Approximately 2.5 Years, or up to the duration of the project.
JRF: First 2 Years
Possible SRF tenure: Additional 6 Months
