Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-ARG sponsored research project in the Department/Centre of Electronics and Communication Engineering. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in integrated circuit design, photonics, and satellite communication technologies.

Project Title

Design of 100+ Gbps Optical Transceivers for Onboard and Inter-Satellite Communication

Fellowship

• As per DST JRF norms

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA + Medical Benefits

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess any one of the following:

• B.E./B.Tech. in ECE/EEE/EIE or an equivalent discipline with a valid GATE/NET qualification.

OR

• M.E./M.Tech. in ECE, VLSI, or related areas with a valid GATE/NET qualification.

OR

• M.Tech./B.Tech. from a Centrally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI) meeting the prescribed CGPA criteria.

Desired Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Cadence Virtuoso

• Foundry PDKs

• ADS simulation tools

• Analog and mixed-signal circuit design

• CMOS technologies

• Photonic and electronic circuit design

• Layout, verification, tape-out support, and chip characterization

• Electromagnetic simulation and high-frequency circuit design

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be involved in:

• Designing high-speed optical transceivers for onboard and inter-satellite communication.

• Analog and mixed-signal IC design.

• Photonic circuit development and validation.

• Chip layout, fabrication support, and testing.

• Advanced research in optical and microwave communication systems.

Note: Selected candidates may be considered for Ph.D. admission at IIT Roorkee, subject to institute rules and eligibility.
