IIT Roorkee Recruitment 2026: Research Associate Vacancies at Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy

The Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is inviting applications from Indian nationals for project-based Research Associate positions.

The selected candidates will work under the supervision of Dr. Arun Kumar (Principal Investigator) on a prestigious project sponsored by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (R&D Division).

Project & Position Overview

• Project Title: Centre of Excellence – Research and development of Ultra Low Head (ULH) and Hydrokinetic Turbines and performance prediction of small hydro turbine model/projects

• Duration: 1 year or up to the project completion date.

• Emoluments: INR. 30,000/- to INR. 75,000/- + HRA per month (depending on qualifications/experience).

Post Details & Eligibility Criteria

1. Research Associate (Model & Prototype Testing) — 1 Post

• Role: Conducting model tests and prototype testing for Ultra Low Head (ULH) turbines.

• Qualifications: M.Tech in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / Hydropower Engineering.

• Experience Required: Plus one-year experience in turbine / pump or similar equipment testing in the laboratory, field, and coordination.

2. Research Associate (Potential Site Assessment) — 1 Post

• Role: Assessment of potential for ultra-low head sites.

• Qualifications: M.Tech in Civil / Agriculture / Water Resources or a related area.

• Preferred Experience: Experience on existing water structures like outfall structures of water and wastewater treatment plants, canals.

• Job Description: Preliminary assessment based on secondary data available from government sites and reports; visits to potential sites; coordination and compilation with agencies having details of canals and rivers.

Important Conditions

• Reservation Preference: Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates on equal qualifications and experience.

• Travel Allowance: No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.

• Verification: Candidates must bring along their original degree(s), certificate(s), and experience certificate(s) at the time of the interview for verification.
