The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, through its Research & Development Unit, has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF)/PhD Scholar under an ANRF-funded research project in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

The project focuses on developing rapid-assembly masonry systems using fresh-fabricated ultra-compressed earth blocks to promote affordable and sustainable housing solutions in India.

Position Details

Project Title

Development of a Rapid-Assembly Masonry System Using Fresh-Fabricated (Green-State) Ultra-Compressed Earth Blocks for Affordable and Sustainable Housing in India

The project aims to develop innovative and sustainable construction technologies using compressed earth blocks, contributing to environmentally responsible and affordable housing solutions.

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA for the 1st and 2nd years

• INR 42,000 per month + HRA for the 3rd year

• HRA will be provided as per Government of India norms.

Essential Qualifications

Option 1

Candidates with M.Tech./M.E./M.S. degree in Engineering/Technology with specializations such as:

• Structural Engineering

• Applied Mechanics

• Structural Dynamics

• Earthquake Engineering

• Building Technology

• Similar disciplines

Eligibility Requirements:

• Minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks

• Valid GATE qualification not older than five years from the last date of application submission

• Alternatively, a valid NET qualification

Option 2

Candidates with B.Tech./B.E. in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines

Eligibility Requirements:

• Minimum 70% marks or CPI of 7.5 for candidates from institutions other than IITs/IISc

• Minimum 8.0 CPI for candidates from IITs and IISc

• Valid GATE score

Age Limit

• Maximum age of 28 years for candidates whose highest qualification is B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc.

• Maximum age of 32 years for candidates whose highest qualification is M.E./M.Tech./M.S.

Age Relaxation

Relaxation in age will be provided for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.
