The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Project Associate-I (PA-I) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded research project. The appointment is purely temporary and offers an excellent opportunity to work on advanced research in critical metal recovery and sustainable materials engineering.

Project Title

A Rapid Processing Technique for Critical Metal Recovery from Spent Fluorescent Lamps

The selected candidate will contribute to developing innovative technologies for recovering critical metals from spent fluorescent lamps, promoting sustainable resource recovery and circular economy practices.

Fellowship

Selected candidates will receive:

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (for candidates with a valid GATE qualification)

• INR 30,000 per month + HRA (for candidates without GATE)

HRA will be provided as per institute norms.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess any one of the following with a minimum of 60% marks:

• B.Tech. in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent discipline.

OR

• M.Tech./M.Sc. in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or an equivalent discipline.

Candidates with a valid GATE qualification will receive a fellowship of INR 37,000 per month.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in areas such as:

• Extractive Metallurgy

• Hydrometallurgy

• Electrochemistry

• Waste Valorisation

• Solution Chemistry

• Materials Processing

• Related experimental and laboratory research techniques

Appointment Details

• Initial appointment will be for 12 months or until the end of the project (whichever is earlier).

• The appointment may be extended every six months based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.

Leave

Leave will be governed as per IIT Mandi institute norms.
