The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has invited applications for the position of ANRF Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) Programme of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The project focuses on improving underground mining safety through advanced assessment and monitoring techniques.

Project Title

Assessment of Stand-up Time of Freshly Exposed Unsupported Overlying Strata for Safe Working with Continuous Miner Technology in Indian Coalfields

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Conduct field investigations in underground coal mines

• Spend approximately 10–15 days in the field for data collection and site investigations

• Perform numerical simulations and data analysis

• Prepare technical reports and publications

• Support various research activities under the project

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• B.Tech./B.E. in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering

• Valid GATE qualification

• Candidates awaiting M.Tech. results are also eligible, provided they possess a valid GATE qualification

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• M.Tech. in Mining, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, or allied fields

• Knowledge of underground mining methods

• Experience in numerical modelling, rock mechanics investigations, underground excavation studies, or related simulation software

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 32 Years

• Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Female candidates as per Government of India norms.

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month for the first two years

• INR 42,000 per month for the third year

• Campus accommodation may be provided, subject to availability
