IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Invites Applications for ANRF Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position

The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has invited applications for the position of ANRF Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-sponsored research project in the Department of Civil Engineering. The project focuses on improving road safety for e-commerce delivery riders through behavioural modelling and traffic microsimulation. The selected candidate may also be considered for Ph.D. enrolment at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, subject to fulfilling the institute's admission criteria.

• Project Title: Gig-Economy Activity and Risk Simulation for e2W Rider Safety (GEARS)

• Number of Vacancies: 01

• Project Duration: Up to 2.5 years or until project completion

Fellowship

• First Two Years: INR 37,000 per month + 20% HRA

• Third Year: INR 42,000 per month + 20% HRA

• HRA may be admissible in lieu of institute hostel accommodation, as per institute norms.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• M.Tech./M.E. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Planning (M.Plan), or equivalent specialization with First Class/Division or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.0/10).

• Valid GATE/NET qualification.

• Candidates with B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Planning awaiting their M.Tech./M.Plan final results are also eligible to apply.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience in field data collection.

• Knowledge of travel behaviour modelling.

• Proficiency in simulation software such as VISSIM, CUBE, or TRANSCAD.

Job Responsibilities

The selected JRF will:

• Develop and parameterize a psycho-social behavioural model to analyse app-based riders' risk-taking behaviour.

• Study the effects of delivery time constraints and platform incentive structures.

• Conduct traffic microsimulation and road safety analysis using suitable analytical tools.

• Support research activities related to the project and contribute to publications.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 28 years (age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Female candidates as per Government of India rules).
