The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad invites applications from eligible candidates for the position of ANRF Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored research project. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, and Machine Learning to contribute to cutting-edge research on AI-enabled waste segregation systems.

Project Title

AI-Driven Multimodal Material Understanding Systems for Accurate and Scalable Waste Segregation in Indian Context

The project aims to develop AI-driven multimodal material understanding systems for accurate and scalable waste segregation tailored to the Indian context. The research focuses on integrating sensor-based information, deep learning models, semantic segmentation, and modality-agnostic fusion techniques for robust waste classification under real-world conditions.

Based on performance and meeting institute eligibility criteria, the selected candidate may subsequently be allowed to enroll for a Ph.D. at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related disciplines.

• A valid GATE or NET qualification is mandatory.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

• Deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Computer Vision.

• Multimodal learning.

• Material classification.

• Multi-sensor data analysis and related AI applications.

Fellowship

Selected candidates will receive:

• INR 37,000 per month during the 1st and 2nd year.

• INR 42,000 per month during the 3rd year.

• HRA will be provided as applicable if hostel accommodation is not available.

Age Limit

Age and relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India, DST-ANRF, and institute norms for JRF recruitment.
