The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Aeronautical Research & Development Board (ARDB), DRDO, Ministry of Defence sponsored research project. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering to work on advanced research in fatigue, wear, and corrosion-resistant titanium alloys.

Project Details

Project Title:

Experimental Investigations on Enhancing the Fatigue Strength, Wear and Corrosion Properties of DMLS-Produced Ti6Al4V Alloy Using Hot Isostatic Pressing, Secondary Heat Treatment and Laser Nitriding

Funding Agency: Aeronautical Research & Development Board (ARDB), DRDO, Ministry of Defence

• Dr. Girish Verma

• Dr. Indrasen Singh

• Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Indore

Project Duration

• Maximum 2 years or till completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Performing stress-controlled fatigue experiments on titanium alloys.

• Conducting fracture experiments using Universal Testing Machine (UTM).

• Performing high strain-rate testing using the Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) setup.

• Carrying out research data analysis.

• Contributing to scientific publications in reputed journals.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.Tech. in:

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Aerospace Engineering

  • Materials Engineering

  • Or an equivalent discipline

• First Division or equivalent as per the awarding institute/university norms.

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of:

• Mechanical characterization of materials

• Mechanical behaviour of materials

• Fatigue and fracture mechanics

Age Limit

• Preferably below 40 years

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (as per institute norms)
