IIT Indore Recruitment 2026: Applications Invited for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position Under ANRF-PMERG Project

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore has invited applications from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) – Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PMERG) funded research project in the Department of Civil Engineering.

The project focuses on understanding the seismic stability of geo-structures under climate-shifted rainfall patterns, integrating geotechnical engineering, climate change studies, numerical modelling, and data-driven analysis.

Interested candidates must submit their applications on or before 24 June 2026.

Position Details

Fellowship

The selected candidate will receive:

• INR 37,000 per month

• 20% HRA (HRA will be provided if institute accommodation is not available)

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with First Division

• Valid GATE qualification

• Minimum academic performance of:

  • 60% marks or equivalent grade from Graduation onwards

  • 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class X and Class XII

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Experience in numerical modelling using FLAC2D, FLAC3D, PLAXIS, ABAQUS, and OpenSees

• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB programming

• Familiarity with:

  • Geotechnical soil mechanics

  • Hydro-mechanical coupling

  • Constitutive modelling

  • Seismic analysis

  • Climate-data processing

• Prior research publications in reputed journals or conference proceedings

Job Responsibilities

The selected JRF will be responsible for:

• Conducting numerical modelling and data analysis

• Undertaking research on the multi-hazard behaviour of geo-structures

• Preparing technical reports and research publications

• Supporting project activities related to geotechnical and seismic engineering research
