The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore invites applications from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DRDO-sponsored research project titled “mmWave Radar Swarm.” This project focuses on advanced drone surveillance, radar-based tracking systems, robotics, and machine learning for next-generation defense applications.

Project Overview

The project aims to develop advanced radar-enabled swarm systems capable of detecting, tracking, and monitoring adversarial drones. The selected candidate will work on cutting-edge technologies involving radar sensing, autonomous systems, robotics, and intelligent surveillance.


Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be involved in:

  • Developing methods to detect, track, and follow adversarial drones using swarm drones equipped with mmWave radar systems.

  • Conducting extensive experiments to validate developed methodologies.

  • Designing and developing prototype anti-drone systems.

  • Working on radar sensing, signal processing, control systems, and autonomous drone technologies.


Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Master’s degree in:

    • Electronics Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Computer Science Engineering

    • Related disciplines

AND

  • A valid GATE score.

Alternative Eligibility

  • Candidates holding only a B.Tech./B.E. degree must possess a valid GATE score in any branch of Engineering.

Career Growth Opportunity

  • After completion of two years and based on eligibility criteria, the selected candidate may be considered for the Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position.


Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in:

  • Drone Technologies (including flying experience)

  • Control Systems

  • Robotics

  • Signal Processing

  • Machine Learning

  • Autonomous Systems

  • Radar and sensing technologies


Duration of Appointment

  • Initial appointment will be for 9 months.

  • The position may be extended until the completion of the project based on satisfactory performance.


Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 28 years (as per DRDO norms)

Age Relaxation

  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates

  • 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates

  • Other relaxations as per Government of India rules
