IIT Hyderabad Recruitment 2026: Research Associate (RA) Vacancy under DRDO-Sponsored Project

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad invites applications for the position of Research Associate (RA) under a DRDO-sponsored research project titled "Indigenous Development of Large Scale (100 kg) Inert Gas Atomiser". The project is being carried out in collaboration with IIT (BHU), Varanasi, and is hosted in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad.

The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. Interested candidates must submit their applications on or before 8 July 2026.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Ph.D. in:

  • Metallurgical Engineering

  • Materials Science & Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering

OR

• M.E./M.Tech. in the above disciplines with 3 years of research, design, and development experience after completion of the degree.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Powder Metallurgy

• Additive Manufacturing

• Gas Atomization

• Microstructural Characterization

• Superalloys

• Advanced Materials

• Modelling and Simulation

Age Limit

• Upper Age Limit: 35 Years

• Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Government of India rules.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Research Associate will:

• Contribute to the DRDO-funded project on indigenous development of a large-scale inert gas atomiser.

• Conduct research in advanced materials processing and characterization.

• Support design, modelling, experimentation, and development activities.

• Assist in project execution, documentation, and technical reporting.

• Collaborate with the research team to achieve project milestones.
