Project Title

Modelling Deformations in 2D Materials Using Paramagnetic Dipolar Colloids

Nature of Work

The selected candidate will contribute to experimental and theoretical research involving:

  • Preparation and manipulation of paramagnetic colloidal particles

  • Optical microscopy-based tracking

  • Sample preparation under controlled magnetic conditions

  • Experimental deformation studies in two-dimensional colloidal crystals

  • Computational analysis and numerical simulations

  • Investigation of defects and deformation behaviour in colloidal systems

Research Areas

Applicants with backgrounds in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Nanotechnology

  • Soft Matter Physics

  • Colloids

  • Statistical Mechanics

  • Microscopy

  • Computational Modelling

Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, Python, or molecular dynamics software will be an advantage.

Essential Qualification

Applicants should possess one of the following:

  • B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with a valid GATE, NET, JRF, or CSIR qualification

OR

  • M.Sc. in Physics with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, along with a valid GATE, NET, JRF, or CSIR qualification

Desirable Experience

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Laboratory research experience

  • Experience with MATLAB

  • Knowledge of colloidal systems or microscopy

  • Computational or simulation experience

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month plus HRA, as per funding-agency norms.

Medical and leave benefits will be provided according to IIT Goa rules.
