IIT Gandhinagar Invites Applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position in Biological Sciences and Engineering

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering. The fellowship is offered under a research project focused on targeted protein degradation of TPD43, aimed at developing therapeutics against triple-negative breast cancer. Eligible candidates with a strong background in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Position Details

• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Project Title: Targeted Protein Degradation of TPD43: Target Validation and Development of Therapeutics Against Triple Negative Breast Cancer

• Number of Vacancies: 01

• Duration: From the date of joining up to 6 months (extendable based on performance and project requirements)

Fellowship

Selected candidates will receive:

• INR 23,213 per month (without GATE/NET)

• INR 36,000 per month (with valid GATE/NET, including HRA)

• Additional HRA: INR 5,000 per month (for candidates with valid GATE/NET)

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess any one of the following:

• Postgraduate Degree in Basic Sciences

• Graduate/Postgraduate Degree in a Professional Course (B.Tech./M.Tech./BS-MS or equivalent) in:

  • Biotechnology

  • Biological Sciences

  • Biomedical Engineering

  • Chemistry

  • Related disciplines

Applicants must also qualify through one of the following:

• CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship)

• GATE

• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and Agencies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, ICMR, ICAR, IISER, INSPIRE, etc.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Cell Culture

• Cell-Based Assays

• Fluorescence Microscopy

• Molecular Biology Techniques

• Good Communication Skills

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be involved in:

• Initiation and maintenance of mammalian cell culture

• Cell transfection and gene/protein expression studies

• Performing cell-based assays

• Preparation of samples for microscopy analysis

• Fluorescence imaging and quantitative image analysis

• Organizing research data and maintaining databases

• Preparing reports and scientific presentations

• Supporting laboratory management and research activities

• Maintaining proper organization of laboratory workspace
