IIT Guwahati Recruitment 2026: Research Associate-I Vacancy for AI-Assisted Chip Design Project

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has invited applications for the position of Research Associate-I under the sponsored research project titled "ML4EDA: Next Generation AI-Assisted Chip Design" in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The appointment is purely temporary for six months, and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for an online interview.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess any one of the following:

• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, OR

• M.Tech./M.E. (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of research experience in:

  • Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)

  • Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)

  • Or other relevant disciplines.

Desired Skills

Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:

• Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and methodologies.

• Open-source EDA tools such as ABC, Yosys, OpenROAD, and related frameworks.

• Machine Learning (ML) techniques and their applications to EDA problems.

• Strong programming and analytical problem-solving skills.

• Prior research or project experience in:

  • VLSI CAD

  • Hardware Design

  • Formal Verification

  • Machine Learning for EDA

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Research Associate-I will:

• Contribute to the ML4EDA: Next Generation AI-Assisted Chip Design research project.

• Develop AI/ML-based solutions for Electronic Design Automation.

• Work on advanced VLSI CAD and hardware design challenges.

• Collaborate with the research team on algorithm development, experimentation, and publications.

• Assist in project execution and technical deliverables.

Selection Process

• Eligible applicants will be shortlisted based on qualifications and relevant experience.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the online interview scheduled for 6 July 2026 at 10:00 AM.
