New Project Openings at IIT Roorkee: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Positions
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced two exciting Junior Research Fellow (JRF) opportunities in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Interested and eligible Indian nationals are invited to apply for these research-driven roles.
Below are the details for both advertisements:
1. JRF in Chemical Engineering (DRDO Sponsored)
Project Title: Development and Assessment of Technologies for Anti-icing of Asphalt Pavements and Structures.
Principal Investigator: Dr. Vimal Chandra Srivastava
Sponsor: DRDO, New Delhi
Emoluments: INR. 37,000/- per month
Duration: 21 Months
Qualifications: * M.E./M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Materials Engineering with GATE.
Desirable: Prior experience with polyurethane coatings, phase change materials, and asphalt pavements.
Deadline: May 25, 2026

2. JRF in Civil Engineering (DST Sponsored - Walk-in Interview)
Project Title: Synergistic aerobic, anoxic, and anaerobic biofilter as a tertiary treatment technique for simultaneous removal of residual organics, total nitrogen, and emerging contaminants.
Principal Investigator: Dr. Bhanu Prakash Vellanki
Sponsor: Department of Science and Technology (DST)
Emoluments: INR. 37,000/- per month + HRA (as per institute guidelines)
Duration: 3 years / Completion of project
Qualifications: * M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering OR M.Sc. in Chemistry (2 years) / Integrated M.Sc. (5 years) from an AICTE/MoE recognized institute.
Must have a first class, a qualified GATE score, and demonstrated research experience in LC-HRMS.
Interview Date: May 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM
Location: Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Roorkee.
Requirement: Bring application on plain paper, CV, original certificates, and research experience proof to the interview.
Key Information for Both Positions
PhD Opportunity: Selected candidates for the Chemical Engineering project may get an opportunity for PhD admission.
Reservation: Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications and experience.
