The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Indo-UK DBT BBSRC-funded research project. Project Title

“The Contribution of Cross-Species Innate Immune Responses to the Host Control of Q-Fever”

The project aims to investigate how innate immune responses across different species contribute to controlling Q-fever infection, providing insights into host-pathogen interactions and infectious disease biology.

Position Details

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

Educational Qualification

• Postgraduate Degree in Basic Sciences

OR

• Graduate/Postgraduate Degree in a Professional Course

Additional Eligibility

Candidates should have qualified any one of the following:

• CSIR-UGC NET (including Assistant Professorship)

• GATE

• Other National-Level Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments, Agencies, or Institutions

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Academic and technical proficiency in:

  • Microbiology

  • Molecular Biology

  • Immunology

  • Cell Biology

• At least one year of research experience

Preferred Technical Skills

• Cell culture techniques

• Molecular cloning

• Microscopy

• Handling bacterial pathogens

• Infection biology studies

• BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratory practices

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years

• Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India guidelines

Research Exposure

The selected candidate will gain experience in:
