IISER Mohali Recruitment 2026: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Vacancy under ANRF-ERG Funded Project

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-ERG sponsored research project in the Department of Biological Sciences. The position is purely temporary and offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in bioinformatics, genomics, and biological research.

The appointment is initially for one year, extendable for up to two additional years based on performance and project requirements.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• Master's Degree or B.Tech. in Bioinformatics (preferred) or a related discipline.

• Qualified in at least one of the following national-level examinations:

  • CSIR-UGC NET

  • GATE

  • JAM

  • Or an equivalent national-level examination.

Desired Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Fieldwork and biological sample collection.

• Data generation, analysis, and scientific report preparation.

• Handling laboratory animals or small birds.

• Wet-lab molecular biology techniques, including:

  • DNA and RNA extraction

  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation

  • Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)

• Field experience involving birds.

• Programming or scripting using Unix, Python, or R.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Junior Research Fellow will:

• Participate in field surveys and biological sample collection.

• Generate and analyze biological and genomic data.

• Assist in report writing and project documentation.

• Perform molecular biology experiments related to NGS and WGS.

• Support bioinformatics analyses using scripting and computational tools.

• Contribute to the successful execution of the ANRF-funded research project.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview.

• The interview schedule will be communicated to shortlisted candidates separately.
