Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-funded research project. The position offers an opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary project focusing on carbon capture, microbial electrosynthesis, and sustainable bioprocess development.

Project Title
Carbon capture over biocoal for lipase production using acetate generated from CO₂ via microbial electrosynthesis
The project aims to develop innovative and sustainable approaches for carbon capture and conversion by integrating microbial electrosynthesis and bioprocess engineering techniques.
Duration
Initial appointment for one year.
Extendable for an additional year based on:
Satisfactory performance
Availability of project funds
Notice period for termination: One month
Essential Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology or Microbiology with a good academic record as per DBT manpower recruitment guidelines.
Candidates with a Graduate or Postgraduate degree in the following disciplines will also be considered:
Bioscience and Bioengineering
Chemical Engineering
Additionally, applicants must have qualified one of the following national-level examinations:
CSIR-UGC NET
GATE
Any equivalent national-level eligibility examination as per DBT guidelines

Roles and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
Conduct experimental research related to carbon capture and microbial electrosynthesis.
Perform laboratory studies on lipase production and bioprocess optimization.
Analyse research data and prepare scientific reports.
Assist in project implementation, documentation, and publications.
Collaborate with the project team to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
