Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the area of Computer Science and Engineering for a research project involving smartphone-based sensing, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

Project Title

“Towards Context-Aware Mental Health Support: Smartphone Based Sensing and Intervention for Anxiety in Young Adults”

Overview of Role

The research project aims to develop smartphone-based interventions for anxiety disorders.

The selected JRF will contribute to:

• Passive and active data collection using smartphone sensors

• Analysis of smartphone-generated data

• Machine Learning-based research

• Deep Learning methodologies

• Development of context-aware sensing and intervention approaches

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in:

  • Computer Science

  • Information Technology

  • Electronics & Communication Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Related disciplines

Applicants should have a good academic record with:

• First Class/Division, or

• Minimum 7.0/10 CGPA

Candidates must also have qualified a national-level entrance examination such as GATE or NET with a valid score/rank at the time of application.

Desired Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with skills in:

• Python Programming

• Machine Learning

• Deep Learning

• Reinforcement Learning – added advantage

• Mobile Application Development – optional

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month + 20% HRA

Duration

The initial appointment will be for 1 year.

Extension may be considered based on:

• Annual performance evaluation

• Availability of research funds
