The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow under an AGR-ANRF-sponsored research project in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

The selected candidate will work on research related to plate tectonics, forearc basins, charnockites, and the Bastar Craton.

Project Title

Initiation from Stagnant Lid to Modern-Day Plate Tectonics: Constraints from Interleaved Forearc Gneisses and Charnockites in the West Bastar Craton

Fellowship

The selected candidate will receive:

INR 37,000 per month for JRF plus HRA, as applicable.

SRF appointment and remuneration will be governed by applicable project and institute norms.

Essential Qualification

Applicants should possess:

• A postgraduate degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Applied Geology

• A bachelor’s degree in Geology, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as supporting subjects

• A valid NET, GATE, or equivalent qualification at the time of appointment

Candidates without a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Applied Geology will not be considered.

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

• At least six months to one year of research experience

• Research exposure through a master’s dissertation in one or more of the following areas:

  • Metamorphic petrology

  • Geochemistry

  • Igneous petrology

Age Limit

Applicants should not be more than 28 years of age.

Age relaxation will be applicable according to Government of India norms.

Duration of Appointment

The appointment will initially continue until 31 April 2026, with the possibility of extension based on:

• Availability of project funds

• Performance of the selected candidate

• Project requirements

The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
