IISER Bhopal Recruitment 2026: Project Scientist-II, Project Associate-II & Laboratory Technician Positions

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal has invited applications from eligible Indian nationals for multiple positions under the INSACOG research project funded by BIRAC. The project focuses on expanding SARS-CoV-2 wastewater surveillance, emerging pathogen detection, and antimicrobial resistance monitoring using genomic-based methods.

Available Positions

1. Project Scientist-II

• Vacancies: 01

• Salary: INR 56,000 per month + 20% HRA

Eligibility

• Doctoral degree in Life Sciences from a recognized university with at least 60% aggregate marks.

• 3 years of research and development experience in academic, industrial, or scientific organizations.

• Maximum age: 40 years (as on 1 July 2026).

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), metagenomics, bioinformatics, Perl/Python scripting, database development, and AI/ML tools.

• Strong project management, scientific reporting, and collaborative research skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate sample collection.

• Maintain systematic data repositories.

• Manage experimental data.

• Prepare project reports.

• Collaborate with partner institutions.

2. Project Associate-II

• Vacancies: 01

• Salary: INR 35,000 per month + 20% HRA

Eligibility

• Master's degree in Biological Sciences or Medicine with minimum 55% aggregate marks.

• Preferably 2 years of research experience.

• Maximum age: 35 years (as on 1 July 2026).

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in microbiological and molecular biology techniques, including:

  • Microbial isolation

  • Cloning

  • PCR/qPCR/dPCR

  • Gel electrophoresis

  • Nucleic acid isolation

  • Library preparation for NGS

• Preference will be given to candidates qualified in NET/GATE/GPAT.

Job Responsibilities

• Sewage sample processing.

• Nucleic acid extraction.

• RT-qPCR analysis.

• Library preparation.

• Next-generation sequencing.

3. Laboratory Technician

• Vacancies: 02

• Salary: INR 20,000 per month + 20% HRA

Candidates will assist with laboratory activities and support research work related to genomic surveillance and wastewater monitoring under the project.
