IISER Bhopal Recruitment 2026: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under DBT-Funded Project

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Biological Sciences under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India funded research project. The project focuses on developing a microbiome-based diagnostic tool for the early detection of colorectal cancer.

Position Details

• Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Duration: Initially for one year (extendable based on project duration and candidate performance)

• Salary: As per prevailing DBT norms

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess:

• Postgraduate degree (BS-MS/M.Sc./M.Tech.) in Biological Sciences with minimum 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 (10-point scale).

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Molecular biology techniques

  • Metagenomics

  • Data analysis

  • Colorectal cancer research

• Qualification in a national-level examination such as NET/CSIR-UGC-JRF/GATE/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship or any equivalent national fellowship.

• Candidates without the above fellowship but with excellent academic credentials may also be considered.

• Maximum age: 35 years as on 01 July 2026.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience in laboratory and field-based biological research.

• Sample collection from healthy individuals and patients.

• Human microbiome sample processing.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
