The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate to support research led by Prof. Amit Garg, National Investment & Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) Chair in Environment, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG).

The position offers an opportunity to contribute to national and international research projects in climate change, sustainable development, ESG and public policy.

• Experience Required: Freshers and candidates with up to 2 years of experience

Educational Qualification

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably:

• MA Economics

• MA (Honours) Economics

• MSc Economics

Candidates should preferably be familiar with data analytics tools such as:

• Python

• R

• Excel

An understanding of ESG, climate change or sustainable finance will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The selected Research Associate will contribute to:

• Quantitative and economic analysis

• Statistical modelling and AI-based research/training using R, Python and Excel

• ESG-related data analysis

• Analysis of climate-related financial disclosures such as ESG, BRSR, TCFD, SASB and SFDR

• Supporting Indian funds and companies in aligning with international sustainability frameworks

• Conducting literature reviews on climate policy, sustainable finance and climate-related financial disclosures

• Secondary data collection, data cleaning and analysis, including large datasets

• Supporting capacity-building workshops and training modules on ESG and climate reporting

• Preparing research reports, papers and publications

• Supporting project administration and institutional coordination

The selected candidate will work with a research team engaged with diverse communities and policy issues related to:

• Climate change

• Sustainable development

• ESG

• Public policy
