The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded research project in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering.

The project focuses on developing advanced micro-texture forming processes in structural alloys to enhance fatigue performance.

Project Title

Development and Optimisation of a Micro-Texture Forming Process in Structural Alloys for Superior Fatigue Performance

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • M.E./M.Tech. in:

    • Metallurgy

    • Metallurgical Engineering

    • Materials Engineering

    • Materials Science

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Applied Mechanics

    • Aerospace Engineering

    • Ceramics Engineering

    • Or any allied discipline

OR

  • M.Sc. in:

    • Physics

    • Chemistry

    • Materials Science

    • Mathematics

Additional requirements:

  • Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates)

  • Valid GATE/NET qualification

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates having:

  • Experience with Finite Element Method (FEM) and simulation software such as ABAQUS and ANSYS

  • Programming knowledge in Python and MATLAB

  • Understanding of computational mechanics, metal plasticity, deformation and fatigue

  • Experience in mechanical characterisation of engineering materials

  • Good communication skills

  • Motivation to pursue a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering under ANRF or similar funded projects

Fellowship

  • INR 37,000 per month + 30% HRA

  • Total Monthly Fellowship: INR 48,100

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: 30 Years

  • Age relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates as per Government norms.

Eligible candidates will be selected through a walk-in interview.
