The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded research project in the Department of Electrical Engineering.

The project focuses on developing cyber-resilient electric vehicle charging infrastructure, integrating artificial intelligence, digital twins, grid emulation, and battery management systems for secure EV charging.

Project Title

Development of Cyber-Resilient Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Security Control Framework with Fault Diagnosis and Vulnerability Analysis Facilities

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should satisfy either of the following:

• M.E./M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or allied disciplines from a recognized university/institution with minimum 60% marks (6.5 CGPA) and a valid GATE score.

OR

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or allied disciplines with minimum 80% marks (8.5 CGPA) and a valid GATE score.

Relaxation: Marks relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwD candidates as per Government norms.

Candidates in the final semester of their qualifying programme may also apply, subject to producing the required degree completion documents before admission.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

• Power electronic converter modelling and design

• DC-DC and DC-AC converters

• Renewable energy integration with smart grids

• Battery management systems (BMS)

• MATLAB/Simulink simulation

• Digital controllers such as FPGA, Microcontroller, DSP

• IoT sensors and embedded systems

• Artificial Intelligence applications in power systems

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work on:

• Developing cyber-resilient EV charging infrastructure

• Grid Emulator and Battery Management System (BMS) integration

• AI-based detection and mitigation of cyber-attacks on EV charging systems

• Digital twin development for EV charging infrastructure

• Security control framework development

• Fault diagnosis and vulnerability analysis

Fellowship

• First & Second Year: INR 37,000 per month + 30% HRA (INR 48,100/month total)

• Third Year: INR 42,000 per month + 30% HRA (INR 54,600/month total)
