The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS Pilani – K K Birla Goa Campus invites applications for the positions of Research Assistant and Field Assistant under an ICSSR-funded research project.

The project explores the relationship between ritualistic performance, cultural traditions, and social cohesion through the study of Pandav Lila narratives in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

“Ritualistic Performance and Social Cohesion: The Micro-Narratives of Pandav Lila in the Garhwal Region of Uttarakhand”

The project seeks to understand how traditional ritual performances contribute to social cohesion, community identity, and cultural continuity in the Garhwal region.

Available Positions

1. Research Assistant

Essential Qualification

• Postgraduate degree in any Humanities or Social Science discipline

• Minimum 55% marks

• NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D.

2. Field Assistant

Essential Qualification

• Postgraduate degree in any Humanities or Social Science discipline

• Minimum 55% marks

Language Requirements

Applicants should possess:

Mandatory

• Fluency in Hindi

• Good written and spoken proficiency in English

Preferred (For Field Assistant Position)

• Basic knowledge of the Garhwali language

Roles and Responsibilities

Research Assistant

• Assist in literature review and academic research

• Support data collection and analysis

• Contribute to report writing and project documentation

• Assist in publication and dissemination activities

Field Assistant

• Conduct field visits and data collection

• Support interviews and community engagement activities

• Assist in organizing fieldwork logistics

• Maintain records and field documentation
