Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani – K K Birla Goa Campus has announced openings for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions across two different exciting research domains: Mathematics and Cross-Disciplinary Materials Science/Chemical Engineering.
Both positions offer a great opportunity to work on high-impact research projects with potential avenues for advanced academic growth.
Position 1: JRF in the Department of Mathematics (ANRF-ARG Project)
Applications are invited for a Research Staff position under an ANRF-ARG sponsored research project (File No. ANRF/ARG/2025/001228/MS).
Broad Area of Research: Operator Theory, Several Complex Variables
Project Duration: 5 Years
Fellowship Amount: INR 37,000 + HRA as applicable
Principal Investigator (PI): Prof. Sameer Chavan
Co-PIs: Dr. Monojit Bhattacharjee, Dr. Rajeev Gupta
Eligibility Criteria
Essential: Post-graduate degree in Mathematics with First Class (or at least 6.5 CGPA) AND a minimum of 55% marks in B.Sc.
Required Knowledge: Sound background in Linear Algebra, Real & Complex Analysis, and Functional Analysis.
Preference: Given to NET/GATE-qualified candidates.

Position 2: JRF in Cross-Disciplinary Research Framework (Chemistry / Chemical Engineering)
Applications are invited from motivated candidates to work on a BITS Pilani sponsored Cross-Disciplinary Research Framework (CDRF) project.
Project Title: Design of Inorganic and Organic Frameworks–based Hybrid Nanostructured Materials for High Performance Energy Storage Devices
Project Duration: 2 Years (The selected candidate will be given the opportunity to register for the BITS Pilani PhD program, subject to fulfilling institute requirements)
Fellowship Amount: INR 37,000 per month (or as per guidelines)
Investigators: Prof. Saurav Bhattacharya (Dept. of Chemistry) & Prof. Richa Singhal (Dept. of Chemical Engineering)
Scope of Work
The fellow will engage in cutting-edge research involving the design and development of novel hybrid nanostructured materials based on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), and their subsequent utilization as catalysts for key electrochemical energy storage and conversion reactions.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. (Chemistry) or an equivalent degree OR M.E./M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or allied disciplines, with a minimum of 60% marks.
Age Limit: Maximum 35 years as on the date of the interview.
Desirable Qualifications: Background in synthetic Inorganic and/or Materials chemistry alongside experience in electrochemistry. Qualifications in National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR–UGC NET (including lectureship) and/or GATE are highly desirable.
