The Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, invites applications for the position of Research Associate-I (RA-I) under a DBT-funded research project. Eligible candidates are invited to attend the walk-in interview scheduled in June 2026.

Recruitment Overview

Project Title

“Use of CRISPR/Cas Gene Editing Technology for Functional Characterization of a Putative Cyclic Nucleotide-Gated Channel Gene for Developing Spot Blotch Resistant Wheat Genotypes”

The project focuses on advanced gene-editing approaches for developing disease-resistant wheat varieties and strengthening crop improvement research.

Duration

• Initially for 1 year.

• Extension will be based on satisfactory performance during the first year.

• Total project duration is 3 years.

Essential Qualification

Candidates must possess:

• Ph.D. in any of the following disciplines:

  • Genetics & Plant Breeding

  • Plant Pathology

  • Agricultural Botany

  • Plant Biotechnology

  • Any other closely related discipline

• Degree should be obtained from a recognized and reputed University/Institution.

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Strong experience in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology techniques.

• Expertise in Genomic Pipelines and advanced biological data analysis.

• At least two research papers published as First Author or Equal First Author in SCI-indexed journals.

Age will be calculated as on the date of the interview.
