Banaras Hindu University Invites Applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Under ANRF-Funded Project

The Department of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)-funded research project. The project focuses on developing sustainable solutions to combat tomato leaf curl virus infection in chilli through antimicrobial peptide-producing Bacillus species.

Project Title

Potential of antimicrobial peptide producing Bacillus spp. against tomato leaf curl virus infection in chilli: Investigations on the suppression of symptom expression and vector transmission efficiency

Fellowship

• First Two Years (JRF): INR 37,000 per month + 20% HRA

• Third Year (SRF): INR 42,000 per month + 20% HRA (as per norms)

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Plant Pathology, Mycology and Plant Pathology, or Microbiology/Plant Sciences.

• A valid CSIR-UGC NET, ICAR-ASRB NET, or GATE qualification.

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates with prior research experience in:

• Plant viruses

• Plant insect vectors

Roles & Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be involved in:

• Routine laboratory work

• Microbe culturing

• Rearing of whitefly

• Molecular biology experiments

• Field evaluation

• Data analysis

• Maintenance of project records

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 28 Years

• Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India norms:

  • 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Challenged/Female candidates

  • 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates
