RMIT is seeking an experienced and visionary academic leader to join as Deputy Dean (Learning and Teaching) — a pivotal executive role that will shape the strategic direction of teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, and student success.

Position Overview

About the Role

The Deputy Dean will:

• Provide strategic leadership in learning and teaching

• Lead academic governance, quality assurance and accreditation

• Oversee program design, delivery and compliance

• Chair key academic assessment and governance committees

• Drive curriculum innovation aligned with market responsiveness

• Strengthen offshore partnerships and global program consistency

• Coordinate funding submissions and regulatory compliance

• Support senior academic leaders across departments

This role offers a significant platform to influence the future of management education at a global university.

Underlying Academic Appointment

The role includes an ongoing appointment as:

• Associate Professor (Education Focused) OR

• Professor (Education Focused)

The successful candidate will contribute to:

• Teaching excellence and innovation

• Staff capability building

• Academic leadership at School, College and University level

• Strengthening RMIT’s global education networks

Key Selection Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:

• PhD (or equivalent) in Management or relevant business discipline

• Senior leadership experience in university learning & teaching

• Deep knowledge of Australian higher education governance

• Experience across interdisciplinary schools (UG to PhD)

• International collaboration experience

• National or international recognition as an eminent educator
