About the Role

The Director – Innovation will be responsible for supporting and advancing the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Reporting to and assisting the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the selected candidate will play a key role in developing a strong innovation ecosystem across the university.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

• Lead and strengthen the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship agenda

• Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and enterprise

• Promote technology transfer and commercialisation of research

• Build stronger engagement with industry and start-up ecosystems

• Translate academic ideas and research outcomes into impactful solutions

• Support the development of ventures, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives

• Work closely with university leadership, faculty, researchers, and external stakeholders

• Encourage interdisciplinary innovation and institutional partnerships

Essential Qualification

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or PhD in one of the following or a related field:

• Business

• Technology

• Engineering

• Innovation Management

• Entrepreneurship

• Another relevant discipline

Candidate Profile

The position is suitable for candidates with:

• Strong leadership and strategic-planning capabilities

• Experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, or technology transfer

• Understanding of research commercialisation and start-up development

• Ability to build partnerships with industry and external organisations

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

• Experience working in higher education, research, industry, or innovation ecosystems
