About the Role

The Director – Sustainability will support and advance the university’s sustainability strategy and institutional initiatives.

Reporting to and assisting the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the selected candidate will play a key role in embedding sustainability across:

• Academic programmes

• Research activities

• Campus operations

• Institutional planning

• Environmental, Social, and Governance practices

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate may be expected to:

• Develop and implement the university’s sustainability strategy

• Integrate sustainability into academic and research programmes

• Lead environmental and ESG-related institutional initiatives

• Coordinate sustainability efforts across departments and campuses

• Support responsible campus operations and resource management

• Develop sustainability policies, frameworks, and performance indicators

• Build partnerships with academic, industry, government, and community stakeholders

• Strengthen the university’s reputation as a responsible and future-focused institution

• Prepare sustainability reports and support compliance-related activities

• Promote innovation and impact-driven sustainability practices

Candidate Profile

The position is suitable for candidates with:

• Strong leadership experience in sustainability or environmental management

• Expertise in ESG, climate action, or sustainable development

• Experience working across academic, research, or institutional settings

• Excellent strategic planning and stakeholder-management skills

• Ability to lead interdisciplinary sustainability initiatives

• Strong communication, reporting, and organisational capabilities
