The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali has invited applications for the position of Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) under an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded project. The position is available in the field of Virology and Life Sciences Research and offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge antiviral research.

Project Details

Project Title:
Establishment of Centre for Advance Research for Rapid Development of Host-Directed Broad Antivirals

The project aims to establish an advanced research centre dedicated to the rapid development of broad-spectrum, host-directed antiviral strategies with potential applications in combating emerging infectious diseases.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must fulfil either of the following criteria:

Option 1

• First Class Postgraduate Degree in any branch of Life Sciences, including integrated postgraduate degrees; and

• Three years of relevant experience

OR

• Ph.D. in Life Sciences

Option 2

• Second Class Postgraduate Degree in any branch of Life Sciences, including integrated postgraduate degrees;

• Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences; and

• Three years of relevant experience

Research Areas

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in areas including:

• Virology and Infectious Diseases

• Antiviral Drug Discovery

• Host-Directed Therapeutics

• Molecular Biology and Cell Biology

• Translational Life Sciences Research

• Emerging and Re-emerging Viral Diseases

• Biomedical and Clinical Research

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) will be expected to:

• Conduct advanced research related to virology and antiviral development.

• Design and execute experiments in molecular and cellular biology.

• Analyse experimental data and prepare scientific reports and publications.

• Contribute to the establishment and activities of the Centre for Advance Research.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and support project deliverables.
