Call for Institute Research Fellow: BITS Pilani (K K Birla Goa Campus)

Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani – K K Birla Goa Campus invites applications from motivated students for an Institute Research Fellow position under the BITS Pilani Cross-Disciplinary Research Framework III Funded Project.

The research will be conducted at the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering.


Project Overview

  • Project Title: "Peptide-based Supramolecular Photochromic Biocompatible Hydrogels for the Development of 4D-Printed Next-Generation Adaptive Contact Lenses"

  • Research Fields: Chemistry, Materials, and Additive Manufacturing.

  • Project Supervisors: Dr. Subhasish Roy (Department of Chemistry) & Prof. Dhananjay Madhukar Kulkarni (Department of Mechanical Engineering).

  • Funding Agency: BITS Pilani.

  • Duration: 2 Years (Renewed annually based on satisfactory performance).


Fellowship & Benefits

  • Fellowship Amount: INR 37,000/- per month (for the first two years).

  • Accommodation: Hostel accommodation at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus will be provided, subject to availability and institutional norms.

  • Ph.D. Opportunity: The initially recruited fellow will have the opportunity to apply for a Ph.D. position at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus (rules of the Ph.D. program will apply).


Candidate Eligibility

Qualifications

  • Minimum Eligibility: Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry (with at least 60% marks) OR M.Pharm (with at least 60% marks) with experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry/Peptide Chemistry related project work.

  • Preferences: Priority will be given to candidates who have qualified National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET (including PhD only / PhD + lectureship / Assistant Professorship) in Chemical Sciences or a GATE in Chemistry.

Key Skills & Expectations

  • Candidates should have a basic understanding of Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Reagent Chemistry, Coupling Agents, Peptide Chemistry, Biomolecules, Materials Chemistry, and Photochemistry.

  • Responsibilities include performing lab experiments, writing reports/articles in good English, and targeting publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Age Limit

  • Not exceeding 35 years as on the date of interview.

  • Age relaxation of up to 5 years is allowed for SC/ST/PH/OBC/Women candidates.
