The Curatorial, Public and Visual Cultures Department offers postgraduate programmes in areas including:

• History of Art

• Heritage Studies

• Contemporary Curatorial Practice

Qualification

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, applicants should possess:

• PhD in Art History or a related discipline

• Recognised teaching experience

• Strong postgraduate supervision experience

• Established academic and/or creative research profile

Experience Required

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

• Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

• Curriculum development

• Art historical, curatorial and/or heritage studies

• Supervision of successful Honours and Master’s students

• PhD-level supervision

• Conventional and/or creative research outputs in art histories or related humanities disciplines

Relevant academic interests may include:

• Historical and contemporary art

• Colonial, decolonial and post-colonial studies

• South African and African contexts

• Interdisciplinary research methodologies

• Multidisciplinary and multimodal approaches

Desirable Skills

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Project management experience

• Interest in transformative pedagogies

• Experience in decolonial curriculum development

• Interest in transformation within the humanities
