About the Position

The professorship focuses on connecting research in computational literary studies with the development and application of advanced research infrastructure.

The selected candidate will contribute to the machine-assisted exploration, analysis and interpretation of cultural materials, particularly analogue and handwritten artefacts. The appointment will be made under the Jülicher Modell and will involve close collaboration with the German Literature Archive in Marbach.

Required Academic Profile

Applicants should demonstrate outstanding research achievements in one of the following areas:

• Humanities with a focus on information science and computational literary studies.

• Information science and digital humanities with a strong humanities perspective.

Candidates should also possess an internationally visible publication record and demonstrate the ability to conduct interdisciplinary research.

Desirable Areas of Expertise

Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in:

• Computational literary studies.

• Digital humanities.

• Digital scholarly editions.

• Research data management.

• Optical character recognition.

• Artificial intelligence.
