The University of Oxford invites applications for the position of Departmental Lecturer in Early Modern English Literature. The post is based jointly at the English Faculty, Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, and Oriel College, Oxford, and is offered on a fixed-term basis for two years.


Position Overview

Oxford is seeking an outstanding academic specializing in Early Modern English Literature to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching while pursuing research in the field.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching across a range of topics in English language and literature for both the English Faculty and Oriel College. The appointment has been created to support teaching requirements during the period in which Professor Kathryn Murphy serves as Associate Head of the Humanities Division (Education).

The appointee is expected to take up the position from 1 October 2026.
