About the Role
The University of Chicago seeks dedicated educators to teach Spanish language courses within its undergraduate curriculum. Depending on departmental requirements, selected candidates may teach between one and four courses per academic year.
The role involves teaching Spanish courses at different levels, including:
Elementary Spanish
Intermediate Spanish
Advanced Spanish
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidates will be expected to:
Prepare and deliver Spanish language courses across various proficiency levels.
Develop instructional materials and course content.
Conduct regularly scheduled office hours.
Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and examinations.
Assess student learning and provide academic guidance.
Contribute to maintaining high standards of language instruction and student engagement.
Eligibility & Preferred Qualifications
The department seeks candidates with:
Strong academic background in Spanish Language, Hispanic Studies, Linguistics, Literature, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated teaching experience in language instruction, preferably at the university level.
Ability to teach across multiple proficiency levels of Spanish.
Excellent communication, instructional, and student mentoring skills.
