Overview of Role

The College of Business at Tennessee Technological University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics commencing in August 2027.

The College offers a STEM-designated BS in Economics focused on quantitative economics and econometrics, as well as MBA programs. Beginning in Fall 2027, the college will also house a new Behavioral Research Lab for faculty and student experimental research.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach a standard load of 9 credit hours (3 courses) per semester across undergraduate and/or MBA programs using traditional classroom, online, and hybrid modalities.

  • Scholarly Research: Conduct rigorous academic research leading to publications in refereed journals (utilization of the Behavioral Research Lab encouraged).

  • Service & Mentorship: Provide student academic mentoring and engage in active service to the department, university, and the economics profession.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Economics or equivalent from an accredited institution (ABDs in advanced dissertation stages will be considered, provided the degree is conferred by August 1, 2027).

    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and service.

    • Proven capability to deliver instruction via online and alternative formats.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Teaching experience at the principles and intermediate economics levels.

    • Enthusiasm for developing and teaching upper-division undergraduate electives in specialized fields.
