About the Opportunity
The Southampton Malaysia Business School is officially inviting applications from distinguished academics in Entrepreneurship to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. We are seeking dedicated educators and researchers who are deeply passionate about shaping entrepreneurial mindsets, advancing cutting-edge innovation, and bridging the gap between rigorous academic theory and real-world venture creation.
This role offers an exceptional platform to inspire the next generation of founders, drive impactful business research, and actively engage with startup and incubation ecosystems within a globally connected academic environment.
Core Responsibilities
Faculty members will be expected to contribute across teaching, research, and ecosystem engagement pipelines:
Pedagogy & Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction across core entrepreneurship modules. Design modern, experiential learning frameworks utilizing standard lectures, interactive tutorials, specialized seminars, and startup-focused projects.
Research Excellence: Conduct high-impact research aligned with University priorities and consistently publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed international journals.
Grants & Funding: Author robust research proposals to secure external research funding and grants.
Mentorship: Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students, specifically guiding venture-based and incubation-focused student projects.
Curriculum Innovation: Continuous enhancement of curriculum design, pedagogical methods, and modern student assessment practices.
Ecosystem Engagement: Collaborate directly with industry leaders, government bodies, and startup ecosystem partners to strengthen enterprise engagement, knowledge transfer, and societal impact.
Academic Leadership: Contribute actively to departmental administration, committee leadership, and the long-term development of the business school.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
A completed PhD or equivalent terminal qualification in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business Management, or a closely related academic discipline.
Proven experience in classroom instruction at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
A strong, documented research background accompanied by a solid publication record.
Demonstrated capability to develop competitive research proposals and secure project funding.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
An unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student development, and inclusive learning environments.
Desirable Criteria:
A recognized higher education teaching qualification (e.g., PGCAP or equivalent).
Hands-on industry experience working within startups, venture capital, corporate innovation, or broader entrepreneurship ecosystems.
Prior experience successfully managing funded research projects and working with external grant bodies.
The ability to seamlessly integrate real-world case studies and practical venture-creation dynamics into classroom teaching.
Practical knowledge of Malaysian higher education regulatory frameworks (MQA, MOHE) alongside global international standards.
