The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) invites applications for the prestigious RBI Chair Professor in Development / Rural Economics, established under the Reserve Bank of India’s Corpus Fund Endowment Scheme to promote advanced research and scholarship in economics and allied disciplines.

Founded in 1979, IRMA is a premier national-level institution offering MBA, PhD, mid-career professional education, interdisciplinary research, and consulting in rural management and development.

Position Overview

Preferred Areas of Expertise

Candidates with demonstrated expertise in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Applied Economics

• Agricultural Economics

• Development Economics

• Rural Economics

• Policy & Rural Development Research

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of post-PhD experience in teaching and research.

• Demonstrated leadership in large-scale research or consultancy projects.

• Strong and consistent research publication record.

Publication Requirements (Last 10 Years)

• Minimum 12 journal publications

• At least 5 in Category A (ABDC A or SJR > 1.000)

• At least 2 in Category B (ABDC B or SJR 0.500–0.999)

Candidates already in higher pay matrices may receive pay protection.

• Strengthen IRMA’s research profile in development and rural economics.

• Lead high-impact research and consultancy projects.

• Mentor doctoral scholars and faculty.

• Contribute to teaching, training, and policy engagement.
