National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) has issued an important notification regarding the Assistant Professor (Law) Recruitment Examination 2026. The University has announced the schedule and examination pattern for shortlisted candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor in the discipline of Law.

Examination Overview

The recruitment examination is being conducted pursuant to the advertisement dated 19 November 2025 for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor at National Law University Delhi.

At this stage, the examination process will be conducted only for the discipline of Law.

Important Note

The recruitment process for the disciplines of:

• Sociology

• Political Science

has been deferred and will not be conducted presently.

Examination Pattern

The written examination will consist of two papers:

Paper I

MCQ-Based Test

Paper II

Subject-Specific Descriptive Paper

Available Specializations for Paper II

Candidates may appear in any of the following specializations:

1. Constitutional Law

2. Legal Theory

3. Criminal Law

4. International Trade Law

5. Corporate Law

6. Intellectual Property Law

7. Cyber & Technology Law

8. Environmental Law

9. Civil Procedure Code

10. Law & Legal Research

Withdrawn Specializations

The following specializations have been withdrawn due to an inadequate number of applications:

• Personal Law

• Clinical Legal Research

• Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

• Taxation

• Banking, Insurance & Insolvency

Candidates who had selected any of the above withdrawn specializations may revise their preference as per the University's instructions.

Interview Eligibility

• A minimum of three times the number of advertised vacancies, subject to reservation norms, will be called for the interview stage.

• Candidates must secure at least 55% marks separately in both Paper I and Paper II.

• Candidates failing to secure the minimum qualifying marks in either paper will not be eligible for the next stage of selection.

Important Instructions for Candidates

1. Carefully verify your Registration Number and selected specialization before appearing for the examination.

2. The list of shortlisted candidates eligible for the written examination has been published separately on the University website.

3. Candidates must confirm their specialization through the application portal by 6 June 2026.

4. Candidates who fail to confirm their specialization within the stipulated period will not be permitted to appear in the examination.

5. Candidates who had opted for withdrawn specializations may revise their specialization preference according to University guidelines.

6. Any further updates regarding the recruitment process will be communicated through the official portal.
