Overview of Role

The Department of Management in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri (MU) invites applications and nominations from established scholar-leaders for the position of Department Chair.

This is a full-time, tenured/tenure-track academic leadership role at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The department seeks an individual with strong administrative, research, and teaching credentials. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Strategy and/or Entrepreneurship, though scholars with expertise across all management subfields (including Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and Supply Chain Management) are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership Scope

  • Departmental Administration: Lead and manage the Department of Management, oversee faculty development, support curriculum innovation, and guide departmental strategy.

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach undergraduate and/or master’s level courses under a reduced teaching load allocated for administrative duties.

  • Scholarly Productivity: Maintain an active, high-impact research agenda with contributions to leading management journals.

  • Experiential Learning & Service: Champion the college's focus on student experiential learning and represent the department across college, campus, and professional committees.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited business school or closely related program in a relevant discipline.

    • Current academic rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.

    • Qualifications and scholarly record meeting the standards for tenure at the Trulaske College of Business.

    • Strong record of scholarship in management published in top-tier academic journals.

    • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary teaching methods across in-seat and online formats.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior academic administrative and supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead faculty teams.

    • Experience with business curriculum design and experiential learning initiatives.

  • Work Authorization:

    • Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
