Research Focus

The selected candidate will develop an independent PhD project in the field of French Language and Culture, with particular emphasis on:

• French Linguistics

• French in the Francophone World

• Language Acquisition

The position offers the opportunity to combine academic teaching with internationally recognized research within Leiden University's Faculty of Humanities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Conduct original PhD research in French linguistics and language studies.

• Teach undergraduate courses in French language and culture.

• Supervise and support student learning activities.

• Publish research findings in academic journals and present at conferences.

• Participate in departmental research and academic initiatives.

• Contribute to curriculum development and scholarly activities within the institute.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess:

• A Master's degree in French Linguistics, French Language and Culture, Applied Linguistics, Language Acquisition, or a closely related discipline.

• Strong academic background in French language studies.

• Excellent communication and teaching abilities.

• Demonstrated interest in conducting high-quality doctoral research.

• Fluency in French and strong English language proficiency.
