Overview of Role
The University of Leicester is seeking a Lecturer in Technology and AI for Accounting & Finance (Teaching Focused) to join the School of Business.
The appointed lecturer will contribute to the delivery and pedagogical design of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (both on campus and via distance learning), helping strengthen the School’s curriculum in emerging financial technologies, data analytics, and artificial intelligence applications.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Module Delivery: Teach accounting and finance modules across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, integrating modern tools and AI technologies.
Dissertation Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student dissertations and applied research projects.
Curriculum Innovation: Contribute to programme design, course development, and digital learning enhancements for campus-based and distance-learning cohorts.
Scholarship & Enterprise: Engage in pedagogical scholarship, produce recognised outputs, participate in knowledge exchange, and support enterprise partnerships.
Service & Mentorship: Participate in departmental and university committees, provide academic advising, and mentor colleagues.
Qualifications & Candidate Profile
Essential Criteria:
Completed Ph.D. in Accounting, Finance, FinTech, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline, and/or full professional membership in a recognised accounting body (e.g., ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, CIMA).
Recognised expertise and hands-on experience in the application of Technology and AI in Accounting & Finance.
Recent experience delivering accounting and finance modules at the higher education level.
Excellent communication skills, strong IT competency, and a collaborative pedagogical mindset.
Desirable Qualifications:
Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Practical experience within industry or the accounting profession.
Experience supervising postgraduate dissertations and familiarity with distance learning delivery models.
