Salary Structure (7th CPC)

Assistant Professor (Grade-II)

• Pay Level: Level 10 to Level 11

• Academic Pay:

  • INR 70,900 (0–1 year)

  • INR 73,100 (1–2 years)

  • INR 75,300 (2–3 years)

Assistant Professor (Grade-I)

• Pay Level: Level 12

• Pay Scale: INR 1,01,500 – INR 1,67,400

• Minimum Basic Pay: INR 1,01,500/month

(Higher posts follow IIT norms and experience-based pay levels)

Eligibility Criteria

Assistant Professor (Grade-II)

• Ph.D. in relevant area

• First class or equivalent in preceding degree

• Strong academic record

Candidates with less than 3 years post-Ph.D. experience may be considered on a contractual basis

Assistant Professor (Grade-I)

• Ph.D. in relevant discipline

• First class or equivalent in prior degrees

• Minimum 3 years of experience in:

  • Teaching

  • Research

  • Industry

Exceptional candidates with less experience may still be considered (contractual/grade adjustment)

For Higher Positions (Associate Professor / Professor)

• Significant research, teaching, and leadership experience

• Strong publication record

• Proven academic contributions

Age Limit

Special Note for Foreign Nationals

• Eligible for contractual appointments up to 5 years

• Extension possible based on performance
