The Department of Government at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics.

Dartmouth’s Government Department is a premier center for political science scholarship, hosting one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus and maintaining close connections with the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy, and the Ethics Institute.

Key Responsibilities & Research Scope

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach undergraduate courses in areas of expertise as well as an introductory course in comparative politics or quantitative methods.

  • Scholarly Focus: Conduct high-impact research with welcomed focus in migration, democracy, or political economy.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in Asian Societies, Cultures, and Languages; Middle Eastern Studies; and/or African and African American Studies.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Required Education: Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered, provided the Ph.D. is conferred prior to the appointment start date).

  • Teaching Excellence: Demonstrated commitment to effective undergraduate classroom instruction.
