Job Description

Job Opportunity: Associate Fellows (Macro; Trade; Employment and Labour)

The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) is inviting applications for the position of Associate Fellows to join their National Growth & Macroeconomic Centre, Trade Policy, and Employment and Labour Market Initiative. If you are passionate about policy research, data analysis, and evidence-based policymaking, this is your chance to work with one of India’s leading economic research institutes.

Number of Positions: 3
Last Date to Apply: February 28, 2025 (Open until filled)
Duration: Initial 5-year contract, with potential for renewal.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and market standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and support policy research under the guidance of senior economists.
  • Analyze economic data using advanced methodologies to identify trends and patterns.
  • Prepare research reports, policy notes, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on economic developments and trends in assigned areas.
  • Collaborate with resident and non-resident faculty on research studies and outreach events.
  • Mentor and guide research assistants and associates.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Ph.D. in Economics from a reputed Indian or international university. Candidates who have defended their dissertation are also eligible.
  • Desirable:
    • Macroeconomic Research: Experience in applied econometrics, macroeconomic databases, and econometric software.
    • Trade Policy: Expertise in trade diagnostics, trade facilitation, global value chains, and trade policy analysis.
    • Employment and Labour: Knowledge of labour economics, labour policies, and employment databases.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and lead small project teams.
