About the Special Issue
World Archaeology invites submissions for its Special Issue on "Debates and Emerging Issues in Archaeology."
This Special Issue aims to stimulate critical discussion on the most pressing debates shaping contemporary archaeology. As the discipline responds to global challenges—including climate change, armed conflicts, threats to cultural heritage, funding constraints, digital transformation, and shifting public engagement—it seeks original contributions that redefine archaeological priorities, methods, ethics, and public relevance.
The issue welcomes innovative research that offers fresh perspectives on archaeological theories, practices, interdisciplinary collaborations, emerging methods, significant discoveries, and the evolving responsibilities of archaeologists in addressing today's complex global challenges.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to:
Emerging debates in archaeological theory and practice

Submission Guidelines
Original research papers presenting innovative arguments and perspectives are encouraged.
Review papers should offer original insights beyond existing literature.
Papers responding to previously published World Archaeology articles may invite formal replies from the original authors.
Authors are encouraged to contact the Special Issue Editor before preparing a submission.
Manuscripts should follow the journal's author guidelines and be submitted through the journal's online submission system.
