About the Special Issue

World Archaeology invites submissions for its Special Issue on "Debates and Emerging Issues in Archaeology."

This Special Issue aims to stimulate critical discussion on the most pressing debates shaping contemporary archaeology. As the discipline responds to global challenges—including climate change, armed conflicts, threats to cultural heritage, funding constraints, digital transformation, and shifting public engagement—it seeks original contributions that redefine archaeological priorities, methods, ethics, and public relevance.

The issue welcomes innovative research that offers fresh perspectives on archaeological theories, practices, interdisciplinary collaborations, emerging methods, significant discoveries, and the evolving responsibilities of archaeologists in addressing today's complex global challenges.
